I started this as a live painting event in 2020 in Portland, Oregon just days before the COVID lockdown was announced on the west coast. I'm not totally sure what I had in mind with the concept here. It appears to be a kind of trial by fire, or perhaps it has something to do with perseverance and staying the course in the face of adversity. Like I said, this was pre COVID so any relationship to what was soon to follow was only in my subconscious and was not intended to be any kind of commentary on that time of hardship. But then I have found that often my subconscious is way ahead of my conscious mind. Anyhow, this was the last live painting event I was to work at in 2 years!
