"Sanctuary" 12x18 giclee paper print

This snowy tree painting was inspired by a fabulous winter storm when we lived in a cozy home out in the woods of Duvall, Washington. In the background there is a forest fire while the foreground remains frozen in ice. I can't help but take an opportunity to illustrate the opposite forces in nature. Heaven and hell. Fire and Ice.
When this was painted we were completely snowed in out in the woods for 10 days and lost power for most of that time. At least we had enough fire wood, food and painting supplies to breeze through it like it was a romantic vacation! Being stranded never felt so comforting!
