Hanuman God of Devotional Love. I loved capturing this portrait of Hanuman. While I was painting this I was also chanting his mantra daily, while also tuning into a weekly Zoom story-time reading of Hanuman’s story as told in the Ramayana.
This great peaceful warrior is a symbol of devotional love. He is strong, steady and true to his beliefs. In a pivotal scene in the Ramayana, Hanuman is sitting at the shore of the ocean wondering how he will cross the water and rescue Sita. He has all but given up hope when he decides to pray to Shiva for the answer to his predicament. Shiva reminds Hanuman who he is and what he is capable of; he is limitless and all powerful…all he needs to do is remember who he is and believe in himself. Hanuman then proceeds to fly across the ocean with one mighty leap. Jai Hanuman!
