I painted this when I was living out in the woods in Duvall, Washington and our neighbors down the street had a large farm with many animals, including 14 peacocks! If you're familiar with these mysterious and magical creatures you know how incredibly loud they can be, especially during mating season. We were quite a ways down the dirt road from them and we could still hear them in the morning. Roosters have noting on these imperial birds! I had the pleasure of taking care of the farm on occasion and I grew fond of peacocks and learned a lot from being around them, and I just had to paint them. I have so much more respect for them now.
Make no mistake, I would never want to own my own fleet of peacocks but they sure were fun to visit on occasion!
