This painting is the companion piece to an earlier painting titled “Forest Spirit”. While Forest Spirit was inspired by a medicine journey, this painting, Water Spirit was inspired by its companion painting.
In painting this I was trying to tap into the water element and consider what to factor into the telling of that concept. Feminine energy, water of course, night and its companion, the moon all had to be present. It turned out rather dark in both emotional tone and actual value which wasn’t intentional, but if feels right.
