About:
I painted this imaginary view of Washington State's Mount Rainer in 2021 when I was living out in the woods about an hour NE of Seattle. Ironically I couldn't see the mountain from my home but as a long time Washington resident, Rainer, or Tahoma as the natives called it, is always there with me...even now as a resident of Portland, Oregon.
I used photo reference for Tahoma itself but I invented the landscape around it completely, and I dramatically changed the sky to suit my vision for this majestic entity; which was a mystical take and an attempt to paint the soul of the mountain.
