The rawhide head is made of elk. The handle was found on my property. The base of the head has a leather wrap. The back of the rattle has a rough natural texture.
Inside the rattle are small bits of rawhide and some corn, this gives the rattle a softer and quieter sound compared to rattles filled with corn only.
This is a brand new design that I came up with recently. The large, flat head gives the rattle more variation in tone between forward motion shakes and side to side; the rattle has at least two distinct voices because of this design.
